28/07/08 : American Idols Live At The Air Canada Centre

On Saturday July 26th the American Idols tour hit the Air Canada Centre in Toronto Canada. I arrived at around 6pm just as the doors were opening and found my seat easily. I sat in section 118 which would be to the idols left and it was a pretty good vantage point. Pre show on the big screens to each side of the stage we were treated to music videos from American Idol stars of seasons past; Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks and Fantasia. As well, we got guitar hero slots with the Davids mimicking the Tom Cruise routine from Risky Business. These commercial spots got huge applause whenever they aired.
Sitting there as show time approached, I wondered if this group could actually fill the ACC. Even up to about fifteen minutes before show time there were huge blocks of unfilled seats. By the time Chikeze hit the stage though it was packed. It's a real shame and it saddens me that here in Toronto the Canadian Idols winners tour is forced to play smaller venues like Massey Hall.
Just before show time a rep from the tour gets the crowd worked up and it's time to get the show going. Chikeze Eze is first to hit the stage and it's apparent we'll be seeing the performers in declining order of their elimination.
